For headliners, Amenra and Cult of Luna were both at the top of their game this past weekend. As were the up & comingly brilliant Process of Guilt. And Pallbearer. You are always so good at picking up hot talent that its hard to know where to begin! The festival has unfortunately overlooked power electronics and neo-folk, so bands like Death In June, Sol Invictus, Current 93, Barbarossa Umtrunk, The Legendary Pink Dots, Boyd Rice, NON, Sonne Hagal, The Grey Wolves, Content Nullity, Iron Fist Of The Sun (he’s a local lad, please let him do the proper festival this time!), Anenzephalia, Force Publique Congo, Blue Sabbath Black Cheer and Genocide Organ would be most welcome. If you could get The Twilight Sad in the roster then i’ll renounce all worldly vows and take to worshipping Capsule as a totem animal, but any dronegaze/fuzzy punk fare will honestly do; i’m thinking Mirrorring, Komodo Haunts, Graffiti Island, LA Vampires Goes Ital, etc. Something ambient is a must have! Sachiko, New Risen Throne, Kammarheit, K 11, Sleep Research Facility, etc.
Otherwise some dark electromica in the vein of Raime, Vatican Shadow, Christian Cosmos, 1991, etc. Recently i’ve been fantasizing about a PAN label showcase, one of the most surprising and inventive labels going and you’ve already brought us Thomas Ankersmit last year who collaborated with Valerio Tricoli. How about Jar Moff, Joseph Hammer, Heatsick, Blood Stereo, Trevor Wishart or Sewer Election? If you want to throw in your patented “reformed coup” act then Haralad Grosskopf might be interesting, or Takkyu Ishino maybe? In my wildest dreams you could even manage to convince the reclusive goth doyen Sopor Aeturnus to perform live and her Ensemble Of Shadows! 😀
Whatever you choose to do i’m certain i’ll be both thrilled and utterly surprised by what you eventually pull out of the bag.
